What is a GOVERNMENT DOCUMENT?

Answer

A government document is any publication issued by an agency of the government.  It includes local, state, or federal governments.  Most newer documents are available online, but they may be in any format including print, microfilm, etc.  Use OneSearch to find government documents and click on the link in the OneSearch record to an online docuument, or write down the location and SuDoc number.  Federal government documents are organized by SuDoc number.  California state government documents are organized by their own classification system.
