How do I know who the publisher of a book is for my citation?

Answer

The book's title, publisher, and place of publication should appear on the "title page" of the book, usually one of the first few pages. See example below. The date of publication may also be here, or on the copyright page, usually the next page of the book.

Alternatively, you can identify the publisher from the catalog entry.  Usually this can be found under the subheading 'imprint'.

The publisher of the book is identified in the catalog entry under the imprint subheading and after the location of publisher.
