How do I find Articles specifically on Guided Reading?

I am conducting my Action Research project in a Kindergarten class and my topic of choice is Guided Reading. I understand that kindergarteners are Emergent readers so I have also tried the terms Emergent Literacy AND Guided Reading but no results have come up. I was wondering if you could help me. I need my articles to be specifically action research articles. Thank you.

Answer

The database ERIC is a great place to begin a search on guided reading.  You can find it under Databases by Topic, and then Education.

ERIC has a thesaurus, a list of terms specifically assigned to articles in the database, called descriptors.  "Action Research" is included, as is "Emergent Literacy".  Guided reading is not a descriptor.  You can search "guided reading" as a keyword, or try to break it down.  Or you might try the descriptor "reading instruction."
